Andrea Cueny's Blog on the iPad

Andrea Cueny's blog as seen on the iPad

This is the fifth post in a blog series I am doing on real estate technology and how I use it to help my buyer and seller clients. Please click here to see more posts on how I use technology in real estate in metro Atlanta

The iPad 2 is a great way to communicate and connect with my clients.  As a residential real estate agent in metro Atlanta, I frequently work with people who are relocating here for their jobs or to be with family who already live in metro Atlanta.

We are an “on the go” society and having a sleek tool like the iPad lightens my load, confirms to my clients that I am tech savvy, and fills genuine needs in the real estate transaction, from start to finish.

Below are several ways I use the iPad2 in my daily business help to speed up and enhance the real estate transaction.  I was also included in an article about ways small business owners use their iPads in business. Check out my comments featured on The Entreprenette Gazette (#26) about the iPad by clicking here.

Listing Presentation

I have been a REALTOR for more than 10 years and have delivered listing presentations in many ways.  One of the great breakthroughs in technology about 10 years or so ago was the listing presentation on a laptop using PowerPoint.  After deciding that was too cumbersome and a little impersonal, I went back to a paper version of the listing presentation.

Now we have the listing presentation on the iPad2, and it is a wonderful, sleek way to talk to a seller about the benefits of selling their home through Sotheby’s International Realty.  The pictures are clear, the technology is sleek, and trees are spared.

Reviewing the Settlement Statement

The settlement statement (or HUD statement) is a document in the real estate transaction is full of detail, and aside, perhaps from the inspection report, is the most important document to review because it has to do with money….how much the buyer is going to pay the seller, and costs associated with buying the house.

I use my iPad to review settlement statements with my buyer and seller clients either on my own or when we are together.  It is handy to have the clear screen and the thin notebook there on the desk as we review together.

DocuSign.

DocuSign is a tool I am now using to enable my seller and buyer clients and the other party and other agent to use for signature purposes.

Buyers and sellers can review, approve and sign a legal document with just a touch from either your phone, iPad, or computer and it is a secure and legal signature.

There are 10 different unique signatures that you choose from to sign the document within the DocuSign program.    Or you can choose to write a signature and upload that signature.

With just a click you can approve a contract or update terms of an offer, making the transaction move forward much easier than having to find fax machines, scan things in our using courier services.

Keeping the kids busy

An unspoken task that a realtor frequently is faced with is entertaining little ones while their parents make a large life decision.  I have two small children of my own, and so this job comes second nature to me in many instances.

I know the iPad has lots of wonderful apps for kids….the jury is still out on whether I’ll let clients’ children be entertained with my iPad 2…unless of course, I’m pretty sure there will be a contract in my future. 🙂
