Spring seems like it’s on the way and there are a couple of great outdoor things to read about this week in the North Fulton Blog round Up.

Alpharetta Patch reports that soon local parks may be smoke free, if it passes, Alpharetta will join Roswell and Milton in their similar laws.

Arts on the Creek, an annual event on Labor Day in Johns Creek, is gearing up for its 2011 show.  Mark it on your calendar now!

On Arbor Day 2011, read what the City of Milton did in conjunction with Summit Hill Elementary….very inspiring.

Also inspiring and touching this week is a blog post by Stephany Fisher of CBS Atlanta News. Fisher tells about a new organization called Will To Live, which was founded by a family in Johns Creek whose all-star son, Will Trautwein, tragically took his life in October. This sensitive issue is an important one, and a must-read for people who have teenagers in their life.

Lee at Roots in Alpharetta hits the nail on the head when talking about an Athens favorite, The Taco Stand, opening up in Alpharetta.  UGA grads, let us know what you think about it….or if you’re not feeling up to, read the post from his blog.

There’s a newly formed chapter of the Young Men’s Service League in Milton. Their first meeting was held recently in Milton. Primarily for mothers and their sons who are in eighth grade or higher, YMSL is a national organization that does philanthropic work in their local community.

Tired of spending $1 a day going up and down GA-400? Apparently others are too, and Senator John Albers of Roswell has introduced a bill to end the toll on GA-400.

While we may be hoping for a break on GA-400, estate taxes are on the rise in most states. Check out Law Offices of L. Tracy Teiger, P.C. to see which states have had increases in estate taxes….it may one day affect you if you have relocated to North Fulton and your family is in other state.

On my own blog, I found a couple of charts that show some hope for the Atlanta and North Fulton real estate markets.  As the real estate market in Atlanta begins to improve, now may be the maximum buying opportunity.

Here’s the next edition of the North Fulton Blog Round Up for February 15, 2011.  Please click here to see other North Fulton Blog Round Ups.

Who is ready for SPRING?  Besides everyone, Master Gardeners around will all be marking their calendars for this event. Bloomin’ Designs Nursery in North Fulton has announced the North Fulton Master Gardener Faire at Historic Bulloch Hall in Roswell.

There’s (another) 16 year old Milton High School Student with a brand new driver’s license.  This story has a twist, as the new driver, Will Black, is a patient at Kool Kidz, Inc., which is a physical and occupational therapy center for kids from 0-21.  Check out this blog post where Will is the guest blogger and describes the steps he had to take to become a mad teenager behind the wheel.

Atlanta’s Runner’s Blog has a nice post this week describing a couple of great spots in Johns Creek to go for a run . If you’re in Milton and are looking to exercise but don’t necessarily want to go running, you can register for some of the city’s new recreation programs.

It is funny how so many people love to talk about, write about, and eat FOOD!  There’s a great recipe for Gluten Free Applesauce Oatmeal Muffins this week on Northside Food’s blog.   At Atlanta Restaurant Blog, Roswell’s Inc., Food, was where they reviewed and, among other things, they tried yucca and cactus French fries.

Lee at Roots in Alpharetta compiles a helpful monthly graph of the number of jobs posted by businesses in North Fulton.  Check out the North Fulton jobs chart to see if it is going up or down lately.

Last week at Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty, we had Brandon Beach from the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce speak at our sales meeting.  Read my recap about what three areas GNFCC is focusing on and how that has translated into new jobs for our area.  By the way, the Greater Fulton Business Expo will be hosted at the Marriott Hotel in Alpharetta on March 4.  Check out http://www.gnfccexpo.com/ for more information.

Please let me know if you would like to have your post considered to be included in future North Fulton Blog Round Ups!

This is the first week for a new concept called the North Fulton Blog Round Up.  This is a collection of some of the most recent and interesting information on blogs in our area and put them together on the same post.

If you write a blog with posts related to North Fulton, Georgia (including Alpharetta, Duluth, Johns Creek, Milton, and Roswell), and you would like to be considered for a future Round Up, please let me know.

Did you know that the First Lady is coming to Alpharetta this week? Michelle Obama is scheduled to speak at North Point Community Church on Wednesday, February 9 at a ticketed event. Thanks to AwakenGeneration for posting!

We all know that special time of the year is coming up…..Valentine’s Day.  Lee at Roots in Alpharetta shares some great ideas for fathers to share some time with their daughters on Valentine’s Day.

Almost all young children would want to celebrate Valentine’s Day, any regular day, or just burn some never-ending energy!  The Evans Family found a great outlet for just that with their adorable children at Catch Air in Alpharetta.

If you have decided to take exercising to the next level, check out the photos at CrossFit Alpharetta who are building better bodies, communities and stronger families through fitness.

Love the spotlight? The North Fulton Drama Club is holding non-equity auditions for Taming of the Shrew February 21 and February 22.

One reason I love our North Fulton community is for the spirit of volunteerism and assistance given to non-profit groups.  The students at Creek View Elementary School in Alpahretta are collecting Coins for Canine Assistance.  If you want more information about the best elementary schools in Alpharetta, check out a recent post on my blog.

Preserving Roswell is a new blog hosted by a graduate student at Kennesaw State University that intends to focus on the historic preservation of the city of Roswell, GA.

It’s new, it’s been improving, and it has a bright future ahead of it….see what the city of Milton, GA has been up to.
